Just Another NaLu Story: Chapter 1

"Ohhh Lucy!" Cana greeted me as I strolled into the guild's dining hall. She was sitting nonchalantly with her usual barrel of beer right next to her, her dark brunette locks brushing away from her face as she bent back her head to take a swig of the mug of beer she was holding. "Why here so late?" she asked, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand. "Ah, I was  working on one of my latest novels" I replied. "All day?" Cana looked at me, suprised. "Mmm, kinda" I laughed. "Mannn Lucy you must really like writing, I could never do something like that" she said as she tipped her head for another sip. "You know, it must be nice to have something that interests you... why can't I find anything like that? Well whatever,at least I have the sport of drinking!" she smirked. Ahhh she must be drunk again, I thought to myself. "Ah.. well I'm gonna go over there now" I said pointing to the bar area where Mira was cleaning the tables. "Ouh! See you later Lucy!" Cana replied, raising her mug in the air. "Yep!" I waved back and walked over to the bar where Mira was at.

"Hi Lucy!" she glanced behind me, "Is Natsu not with you today?" she noticed. "No, I haven't seen him all day" I grudgingly stated, sitting down on the barstool. " By the way, could I get something to eat? I havent eaten since noon " I groaned, stretching my arms out and placing my head on the table. "Oh, well thats rare" Mira said as she placed a plate of steak in front of me. "Whats rare? The steak? I asked, picking up a fork and taking a bite. "No,no,no" Mira waved her hand and then smiled, "I'm talking about you and Natsu". I perked my eyebrows up, "What about me and Natsu?" I asked, munching. "I'm just saying its rare of you to come alone" She said almost frustratingly, while leaning over the counter. "Is it that shocking for me to come here alone?" I asked, bewildered. "Well Natsu's usually pestering you or following you one way or another... so it's just unusual for him not to show up with you..." she stated. "You know what?Now that I think about it, I don't think he's even been by the guild at all today" she said folding her arm and placing a finger on her chin. Yeah I really wonder where that hopeless idiot went... I thought to myself. He's probably doing something stupid again like trying to catch all the fish in the river... I smirked a little, picturing the image in my head. "Man thats totally something he would do" I burst out laughing. "Wha- whats going on?" Mira asked confused. "Hahaha!!... nothing, nothing" I said wiping a tear out of my eye. "But really I wonder what the hell he's up to". I tilted my head, placed my hand on my cheek and smiled. Mira looked at me and smiled too, for some reason. "Hey Mira!" Droy called from across the room. "Could we get some more beer over here?" Jet shouted. "Yes,yes" Mira said as she filled two big mugs to the brim and carried them over to the table Droy and Jet were sitting at.

Finishing up my last piece of steak, I overheard Levy-chan and Gajeel arguing in the background. "That's not how you do it, this is how you do it!" Levy scolded. "Shut up I don't need you telling me what to do!" Gajeel shouted. "Man.. you're so hopeless Gajeel" Levy retorted, a faint sound of playfulness in her voice. I turned around and watched as Gajeel tried to smash a mysterious metal gadget with his hand, almost breaking the table."I keep telling you that you can't smash it like that! It's touch-sensored. You have to do it like this" she said as she picked up the object and lightly tapped it on one of the side notches. As soon as she tapped it, the object started to resonate and amplify all of the sounds around the table. "There we go! Here Gajeel, your new microphone" Levy said with a content look on her face as she handed the shiny contraption to him. Gajeel stared at it for a second..."Can I just eat it?" he stoicly asked as he picked the object up and brought it to his mouth. "Nooooooooooo!" Levy shouted as she grabbed the microphone from his hand. "What's the big deal?" Gajeel asked as Levy sternly clutched the object. "This thing was pretty expensive you know! I got it for 4000 jewels at that new mage's store near the library!" "So what? It's just an expensive piece of metal then" he scoffed. "What was that?!" Levy shrieked  as she jumped on Gajeel and started pulling the side of his mouth. "Ow ow ow, get off!" Gajeel yelled while Levy was riding on his back, pulling at his mouth. I chuckled and placed my empty plate down on the bar, brushed off my skirt and headed over to where the two were quarreling.

"Heyyy! Levy-chan!" I called as I strolled over to Levy and Gajeel. "Ah, Hi Lu-chan!" Levy greeted me, still pulling at Gajeel's mouth. "Leth do of me!" Gajeel tried to pull away from her. Finally Levy let go and jumped off his back. "Gahh gah" Gajeel panted as he breathed. "So Lu-chan, whats up? Levy beamed. "Ah, I was going to ask you about my manuscript! Have you finished it yet? I asked anticipatingly. "Oh that!" Levy exclaimed, "I gave that to Natsu so he could give it to you". "You  gave it to Natsu?!" I asked, caught off guard, "Why?". "Well I saw him at the guild a few days ago so I gave it to him since you weren't around..." Levy timidly said, looking to her left. Ahhh! I could feel myself start to get frustrated. "Well why haven't I gotten it yet?" I asked concerningly. "I don't know" Levy replied, "I thought that it'd be the fastest way to get the manuscript to you... but I guess not?". "Why would you think that?" I asked puzzled."You know how he is... for all we know he could've accidentally burnt it to ashes!" "Yeah I bet those papers of yours are all burnt to a crisp by now" Gajeel jeered. "Shut up Gajeel! Stay out of the conversation" Levy scolded. "Welllll... no particular reason.." Levy said looking away,"but since Natsu's always around you I just assumed". "Why is everyone saying that? He is not always around me!" I felt my face get hot. Goshhh Natsu! What the hell is he doing?!" I moaned, grasping the sides of my head. "I reallllyy have to find that hopeless idiot now.."
